We work very hard to ensure the items we circulate are safe for you to check out. With the release of another study by Battelle Labs as part of the REALM Project, the aim of which is to ascertain how long the Covid-19 virus can stay alive on library materials, the latest tests showed the virus could stay alive on glossy book pages, magazine pages, children's board books and archival folders in varying environmental conditions, with a trace amount of the virus at four days. We are now quarantining materials received for 4 days. We are still wiing down materials where we can with an aocohol wash when received, and using the same alcohol spray on hard and soft surfaces in the library.
Since we are quarantining for 4 days, your materias may show up as being still checked out on your record, even though they were dropped off. Please don't worry, unless your items still show checked out after 5 or more days since rreturning them. Then give your house and car antoher once over to see if the item was missed and give us a call, and we'll do the same.
We urge you to use caution when out and about - if you do not feel well, please stay home. If you do come in, please browse with your eyes and keep your visits short. We are following guidelines to maintain social distancing, wear masks and liimit the number of patrons in the library to the maximum of 8. We don't know what the future will hold, but we will always strive to do our best to keep you, our friends and neighbors safe.
